Journey into WiC

It has almost been a month since I first came to know about WiC – Where is Cheapest (Product from Simplibuy Technologies) by one of my close friend Achal. He asked me to join him to have a meeting with CEO of WiC (Arun Purohit). Firstly, I was reluctant to join him but I do not know how I decided to accompany him.  To my surprise, it came out to be a good decision.  The meeting with CEO was inspiring and mind blowing. The energy level, the concepts behind WiC and the spirit of giving knowledge by Arun was phenomenal and beyond what can be expressed in words. I was impressed by the charisma of Arun and social aspect of WiC.  I decided to be part of this team and eventually started to work with Simplibuy as an intern. Before joining, I did not know anything about WiC (like most of us right now) but believe me WiC as an application has a very high disruptive potential. It has so much more to offer that it made me to change my mind to work with Simplibuy Technologies instead of going to work with some MNC. In an MNC individual creativity, innovation gets lost into the big brand Silos and departments they espouse. I may be sounding like I am against MNC’s but it is not the case. What I am emphasizing is, that start up firms like WiC can offer a person much more freedom than what one can expect in MNCs. Let me share with all my real time experience at WiC. Within a week of joining, I got a chance to meet the CEOs/Founders of five other startups who had gathered at WiC’s office to evaluate each other’s product and give the feedback so that one can improve in terms of technology, usability, interface, and business model. Collaborative efforts from all the startups to help each other in growing their respective businesses was worth appreciating. Such type of opportunity one can get only in startups not in MNC’s. It was a good learning for me personally and professionally both.

So what exactly is WiC? ( I have talked so much about it). Well, WiC from Simplibuy is a social web application which helps people to find interesting prices for branded products. It helps leverage the knowledge, networked people have on products, sellers and prices. It has proprietary algorithms and technology to keep the SPAM or incorrect information down in stack. WiC is a platform where people are talking about prices just like they do in real life. You can join the discussions to benefit from their insights, purchases. Also, you contribute from your knowledge and get acknowledged as a price expert in your favorite category or city.

In the end I would to thank Arun and his team to give me the chance to be with them to make the WiC a global application which I am sure becomes a household name in the near future.

The idea behind WiC is great but in today’s world we have so many online buying web how could WiC is different from other and apart from discussion forum what addon does it provide because every Web have discussion forum, I have these question in my mind because last few weeks i was trying to buy some gift but was not able judge the price by viewing the product. So if WiC provides some addon information will be great and its a good learning experience for you to. keep it up … :)

    • WiC is based on user generated content where as all other sites are generation one ( Web 1.0 => Generating their own content ). The core algorithms of WiC go much deeper than discussion forums which appear on surface. FOr knowing about the novelty you may have to read the patent Simplibuy has published.

The problem of guessing the price by mentioning a product is whatSimplibuy was trying to solve in Plan A. We will do it at a later stage
