“Your joy can fill you only as deeply as your sorrow has carved you.”― Kahlil Gibran
- Mould and the joy
I was sitting next to a Principal medical officer at Central Medical Establishment of Air Force. This Air Commodore asked me why did I write about my hospitalization incident of 2 days which happened 11 years in past. This admission of mine, had added 4 times the work for the medical agency, also it took me 25 additional days and Rs30,000/= of personal expenses to prove that my body was worthy of being part of the elitist Indian Air Force. I said – “Sir! I couldnt have lied to get my way around faster “. He immediately signed off – Fit to join service. A4 G1 ( Air Force 4 Ground 1 ). The amount of joy ebullient in my heart was so much that I felt I would hit the roof. It had come only after a lot of pain, hardship, uncertainty and fear.
In a banana republic, there is actually no way authorities can overlook the process for a mango man. I, in the process suffered a lot of pain, running after Army medical officers to analyze my physical strength, a risk of getting disqualified and chances of losing an equivalent of INR 1.2 Lakhs today ( USD 2400 approx). The sorrow those hardships carved on me were very deep and yes, the happiness filled me as deeply.
