How does it feel for an IITian to intern at WiC- Anant Pushkar tells

Anant Pushkar is a second year computer science student at IIT Kharagpur . He was AIR-3 in Indian Maths Olympiad-2010 , AIR 5 in National Science Olympiad-2010 conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation of India. He is currently interning with team WiC at Pune. We caught up with him to capture what does it feel like to intern at Simplibuy.

Simplibuy (S) : Would you like to tell us a little more about yourself ?

Anant (A): I am from Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. I love playing volleyball and listening to music. I also enjoy programming and playing computer games.

S : How is life at IIT Kharagpur?

A : Life at Kharagpur has always been awesome. I really love being so close to nature in a place so green. The people there, both professors as well as  seniors, are very helpful.

S : Why did you choose to do your internship at WiC?

A : I liked the concept of WiC at the very first sight and found it very interesting to actually be a part of something so innovative. I had visited the site before. I found it to be very impressive that a company could do so much within a year of establishment. Additionally, WiC being a startup could offer me more learning than any other company both in managerial as well as technical aspects.

S: WiC – Expectation vs. Reality – Did it shock you ?

A :This is my first internship, so I did not really know what to expect and what not to . In fact, I was kind of nervous about it. How my first experience in the so called “corporate world“ would be, but all my nervousness vanished when I met the CEO of the company. I found his behavior towards the people working here very friendly and co-operative. It goes well without saying that there is no such thing as a boss here at WiC. Everyone is treated equally whether it the CEO or a new joinee. I found the office environment very nice and discussions very thought stimulating.

S : How has WiC, as a product impressed you?

A: WIC is a product that has never been thought of in this way ever before. Of course there are several sites that report prices and products but the accuracy with which WiC works is unmatched. It gives the user exactly what she wants and in the exact way. I as a user would wish to have it. I really see a lot of potential in WiC to become a global phenomenon, just like Google or facebook.

S: What’s your plan after internship at WiC?

A: I would like to focus more on mobile application development after upgrading my skills in web development at WiC. Also I am looking forward to a good project based on web technologies in the time to come.
